Olympic Torch
We found out that the Olympic Torch was going to come pretty close to our house and just across the boarder. Not really knowing what to expect since it said it was at a park and it had been raining a good part of the day, we gathered blankets, umbrellas and our chairs and headed up to Abbotsford Canada.
When we got to the park it turn out to be a small stadium, no chairs needed. Thankfully we brought our blankets because the seats were wet. The 3 older kids and I went down on the field to see what was going on. We found that we could stand right by the track and wait for the runner to go right by us. I got Craig and Kaden and we went back to our spot. We ended up with a pretty good view. The kids were able to get their picture taken with a former Canadian Hockey player that carried that torch at some point. We have no idea what his name his but I'm sure all the little 8 to 12 year old Canadian boys that wouldn't move so others could take a picture did know his name.
Over all it was a fun experience and we were glad that we went! Too bad we can't afford tickets to go to the events....I guess we'll have to be happy with some free stuff and maybe we'll go the the Para-Olympics instead.

That is sooooo awesome and I am sooooo jealous! My parents got to see the torch go by! (They could have even stayed home and watched it from their porch.) The rec centre across from their street has training practices for the Russian figure skaters where the public can go and watch for free. My grandmother says it's a good thing she can't afford tickets or she might cheer on the Russians instead. :o)
A friend of mine who served his mission in Russia is hosting some of the figure skaters in his home because he can speak the language! (Lucky!) Membership does have its privileges! ;D
